Golden Turmeric Milk

Golden Turmeric Milk

Golden Turmeric Milk is a great boost for the immune system which we all need this time of year to combat the colder weather. It is also really soothing for the nervous system so I would recommend having it in the evening to promote a good night’s sleep or first thing in the morning for a nice calm start to a busy day.

I usually add turmeric to my green juices and any of you who have attended my workshops or retreats will have heard me singing it’s praises. Turmeric contains an amazing compound called curcumin which is a potent antioxidant and anti inflammatory. It is also one of the few compounds which can cross our blood brain barrier and contribute to brain health. The black pepper in the recipe aids our absorption of curcumin.

Serves 1

Ingredients:

200ml organic almond milk

1 tsp organic ground turmeric

1 tsp organic cold pressed coconut oil

half a tsp organic ground cinnamon

1 tsp organic honey or coconut blossom nectar or maple syrup

half a tsp ground black pepper

Add all ingredients to a small saucepan on a low to medium heat. Use a whisk to mix together and heat gently for about 5 minutes.

Pour into a cup and serve.

Warning – Organic turmeric has very strong colour pigment which can stain quite easily. To avoid your hands or nails turning yellow you can use gloves when working with turmeric and make sure to clean up any surfaces quickly to prevent staining.
